Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) epoxy resin lining contractor
approval
Under the UK's Water Supply Regulations, the Secretary of
State requires epoxy resins for the lining of drinking water
pipelines to be tested and approved prior to use. The application
of a resin is critical to both its performance and its effect
on drinking water quality. Therefore, the conditions of approval
for in-situ application of epoxy resins to water pipes require
lining contractors to obtain third party certification.
WRc's document 'In-situ Epoxy Resin Lining Operational Guidelines
and Code of Practice' sets out the requirements that all lining
contractors must complete successfully a supervised lining
trial.
It is compulsory for all contractors applying epoxy resin
linings to the audited prior to offering this service. WRc
offers this auditing under the WRc Approved, which enables
contractors to demonstrate that they are maintaining compliance
with Operational Guidelines and Code of Practice.
