Environment Agency - MCERTS
MCERTS (the EA's Monitoring Certification Scheme) will provide
a comprehensive framework for industry for choosing suppliers
of monitoring systems and services, which meet the Environment
Agency's performance standards.
Of specific interest to the water industry and its suppliers
is the monitoring of wastewater discharges and receiving water
quality as a means of assessing the environmental impact of
the industries that the Agency regulates. The Environment
Agency is extending the MCERTS scheme to cover instruments
for measuring:
- Turbidity
- Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD)
- Dissolved Oxygen (DO)
- Flow
- Nitrate concentration
- pH
- Samplers
- Total Organic Carbon (TOC)
- Total phosphorus
- Ammonia
The specifications for each of these aspects have been drafted
by WRc and have been circulated for comment. WRc is currently
testing products to these test protocols.
Details of the Environment Agency's MCERTS
scheme can be found on their web.
