How to get a product or service approved
For a confidential discussion of your needs and the service
offered by WRc Approved please contact
us.
Obtaining a WRc Approval is a three-stage process:
- Introduction
- Assessment
- Certification
1. Introduction
You can identify whether 'WRc Approved' is the right scheme
for your product or service by looking at our description
of the different schemes on offer [link to page G5] or by
talking to the 'WRc Approved' Scheme
Manager.
The "WRc Approved" Scheme offers you, as a supplier
to the water and wastewater sectors, the opportunity to verify
the performance of your products or services. All the work
is undertaken on a confidential basis and experienced WRc
staff will work with you to develop a programme to suit your
business needs.
We would like to talk to you about the product or service
that you wish to get approved. This will help us offer you
the best route to approval and define a programme to suit
your business needs. Often this is best achieved by holding
a short meeting. We will confirm at this stage whether there
is an appropriate technical specification for your product.
We will offer you proposals for the assessment and approval
of the product.
2. Assessment
The assessment of products is commonly divided into small
stages. This allows the manufacturer to review the activities
throughout the project.
These stages will vary according the product or service but
might typically comprise:
- Review of the products properties and claims, Drafting
of the Assessment Schedule for the product (in the absence
of a relevant technical specification) and Review of existing
data/procedure
- Audit of factory, testing facilities and quality control
procedures
- Type testing - this might be carried out by WRc or by
the manufacturer witnessed by WRc or by another independent
test house
- Audit of on-site procedures and practice through a site
trial.
See examples of both product and contractor approvals which
demonstrate the steps taken in past approvals
3. Award
When an assessment has been successfully completed, WRc will
award a 'WRc approved' certificate to your company. We like
to present this personally to you, if possible. We also work
with manufacturers to develop publicity material for the new
approval. This might take the form of press releases, articles,
and case studies.
A copy of the 'WRc Approved' logo will be provided for inclusion
in your product literature.
